Why Vintage?
When we first founded MALI Homeware, we knew that introducing a vintage collection was always going to be in the books, and it’d be a collection that we’d continue to grow as we found more and more rare treasures. With every piece and collection that we introduce, we look for items that both work together and have their own individuality in the type of interior style they inspire, whether it be rustic, modern or organic, to name a few.
By their very nature, vintage pieces embody that individuality and quality that we look for in decor and for our homes. Their timeline alone is a testament to their ability to surpass fleeting trends and endure the test of time, with each unique mark being an indicator of their history. In introducing vintage pieces into your home, you introduce with them a richness that creates effortless moments of character and charm.
The Inspiration
Before sourcing these vintage pieces, we had a clear vision of what we wanted this collection to evoke. We wanted to select pieces that would seamlessly blend into our brand and our current collections, whilst still showcasing the elements that make vintage pieces so unique, whether it be their material, origin, or shape. We sought after muted tones, natural materials, a blend of textures and soft silhouettes, and in turn found these features most present in pots, vases and select decor. We also wanted to break these elements with moments of subtle glam and looked for warm metals that age beautifully with time and that could make balanced statements amongst other more muted decor. With these pieces we found incredible detailing in their craftsmanship, from the smallest ribbed design on a candle snuffer, to the carved patterns on our Marigolds print frame, which presented the perfect opportunity for added character.
Sustainability
The rarity that profiles vintage items is part of their utmost appeal. Not only do you find items that have unique craftsmanship relative to each period in time, but you also find an item that is very much the only of its kind, with no mass production involved. Each item has had its own ownership throughout the years and gets to be reimagined in new spaces, extending its product lifecycle.

And as new interior styles emerge, or old ones find a new way of being incorporated, vintage pieces will always find a place to exude their natural character as they are reimagined by their next keeper.
